Useful Information for beginner drivers

The minimum age for a UK provisional licence is 17 (if you are disabled and in receipt of a mobility allowance, the minimum age is 16). You can apply for your provisional licence up to 2 months before your 17th birthday but you MUST NOT drive on the road until the day of your 17th birthday. You MUST display L-plates on the front and rear of any car that you drive while a provisional licence holder.

The Theory Test

Since 14th November 2002 you are required to pass a Theory Test which consists of 50 multiple choice questions, followed by an assessment of your hazard perception skills. You will need to pass both parts at the same sitting to obtain your theory test pass certificate.

At Mini Driver driving school we can help you prepare for this test. You can start by learning to drive whilst studying for the theory assessment, but you must pass the theory test before you can apply for the practical.
